The Art of The Thank You Note

The importance of writing thank you notes has been drummed into me since childhood, and honestly, it is likely one of the "life lessons" I use most often.  Whether it was writing a thank you for all of our wedding guests or a simple holiday card, I've developed a bit of a stationary obsession.  (So much so, that Mr. C. gave me new stationary for our first anniversary - it is the year of paper after all!)  Taking a moment to write, in our time of emails and texts, shows that extra bit of effort that really does make a significant difference.  Here are few options that I'm swooning over.

Coasters - A New Must-Have

You may not have realized it, but coasters are officially having a moment. Just like a coffee table book, candle or vase, coasters add another element of style to the table.  Aside from literally protecting the surface, these little squares (or circles or hearts...) show off your personality and give a well-styled vignette added dimension.  Are you modern art enthusiast or a naturalist?  Do you opt for an organic feel or err toward the opulent?  Available at a variety of price points and endless styles, you can afford to showcase multiple facets of your personality. Right now, I'm loving any and all by Aerin (above), but also really like the idea of the classic slate, perhaps with our initials.  Check out a few other fun options here:

Object of Desire: Herb Garden

Herb Garden Inspiration

I'm not one for DIY crafts, but this season, I'm determined to start an indoor herb garden.  As a somewhat amateur cook, I love the idea of having fresh herbs readily available; however, as a non-existent gardener, the idea of growing something, especially in an apartment, seems a daunting task.  (Though I must say our one little plant is so far surviving!  This plant requires little water, or light, or effort...)  Just think fresh basil for pizza or mint for mojitos...it's the perfect way to bring a bit more Spring indoors.  Stay tuned to see how the garden grows!

Check out this great step-by-step guide on apartment therapy.

Well Read: Coffee Table Books

La Dolce Vita - Slim Aarons

One gift I love to give and receive is a coffee table book.  I love to stack them around the house, changing them out every once in a while, to reflect a certain mood, a style or a theme.  I love that they can reflect different facets of your personality, secret (or not so secret) interests, and an ingrained sense of style.  Mine are a mix between style and travel while the Mr. C's veer to the outdoor set.  Together, I think they perfectly represent us - a little town and little country.

Here are a few favorites and a few I'm looking to add to my collection:
